- Focus
- Traversal, sightlines, player guidance and pacing
I designed a linear, labyrinth-like level inspired by Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Players control the robot R9-J5 as it searches for a Force user, navigating spaces built around wall running, climbing and environmental puzzles.
My contributions
- Designed the layout around the character's movement abilities.
- Built and iterated the blockout through repeated playtesting.
- Scripted door and puzzle interactions.
- Used sightlines to guide players through a structured route without making every next step feel obvious.
Level overview
References and visual direction
Jedi Fallen Order provided the main reference for the level's layout and atmosphere. Additional references included alien terrain, science-fiction bases and command centers. Third-party assets: Dias Climbing System, Fantasy Sky Box, Polygon Sci-fi City, Robot Kyle, Assault Mech and other Unity Asset Store content.
Layout and iteration
I tested the blockout repeatedly to check traversal, scale and player guidance. Later iterations expanded one of the final areas and added a puzzle to vary the pacing.
Gameplay scope
The prototype prioritizes movement and traversal. Combat was limited to planned enemy encounter placement because of time constraints.
